Vectorform is a leading innovation and digital experience partner that invents and builds digital products and experiences.  We are seeking a Global Business Development Director, a newly created position, to lead the company's NBD and Account Management Team in this dynamic and fast growing company.  The position is based in the company's Royal Oak, Michigan headquarters and will work closely with the company's Executive Management Team and report to the company's two co-founders and CEO's. In addition to having demonstrated knowledge and experience in sales and a competitive spirit, the successful individual will:

Qualifications and must haves:

  • 10+ years in the digital services and consulting business
  • Strong soft skills facilitating collaboration, building strong relationships, promoting high levels of team work/synergy, and models excellent customer service skills in all interactions
  • Strong passion for all things technology and innovation
  • Excellent servant leadership with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Should include the ability to effectively customize the approach for each project based upon business problem, technology requirements, complexity, and scale, as well as effectively manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals, and to determine and implement reporting and communication strategies. Uses persuasion and tact in orchestrating sales objectives and direction
  • C-suite presentation and negotiation experience
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills. Skilled at negotiating commitments among various stakeholders and possesses strong meeting facilitation skills
  • Financial analysis and knowledge of pricing and activity-based costing methodologies
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution, contract structuring and negotiating
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and collaborate with teams

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Create sales goals, plans and forecasts. (20% of Time Spent)
    • Create strategic sales plan
    • Create forecasts
    • Contribute to setting sales goals
    • Establish organizational structure
    • Lead account plan development for key accounts
    • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships
  • Talent Management: Coach, mentor and motivate the sales team. (25% of Time Spent)
    • Coach, mentor and motivate team of between 6-12
    • Conduct one-on-ones with direct reports
    • Set individual goals
    • Cultivate market and decision-maker expertise
    • Hold direct reports accountable to their goals and metrics
    • Prepare quarterly and annual performance reviews
    • Own selection process (troll for talent)
  • Sales Oversight: Manage the sales pipeline & set criteria for opportunities. (30% of Time Spent)
    • Teach and train direct reports on the sales process
    • Develop business case
    • Set criteria for qualifying opportunities
    • Lead weekly global development meeting
    • Lead annual sales meeting
    • Ensure opportunities are qualified
    • Track sales vs. goals progress
    • Support Business Development team on key opportunities
    • Establish sales process and philosophy
    • Distribute leads to Business Development team
    • Travel to client sites as needed
    • Ensure CRM compliance for all team members
    • Resolve client conflicts
    • Manage and report on sales pipeline
